Successful Steps to Serve

" ‘Now take the goblet,’ he said, ‘and hold the metal against your body, pushing inward.’ I took the goblet held it, tightly, to my body.
I held the round, heavy metal against me, below my brassiera.
‘Lower,’ he said, ‘ against your belly.’ I then held the goblet lower. ‘Press it more inward,’ he said.
I did so. I can still feel the cold metal against me, firmly, partly against the silk of my undergarment, partly against my belly.
‘Now,’ said he, ‘lift the goblet to your lips and kiss it lingeringly, then proffer it to me, arms extended, head down.’
"Fighting Slave of Gor" p. 19

The serving of food and beverage in the Gorean Inn, Tavern or even the Home Stone is an important part of the responsibilities of kajirae.

This training page is intended to provide a deeper understanding of the meaning attached to service Once a girl learns the essentials of a serve, she need only expand her knowledge of the possible items to offer.

Before offering to serve, a girl needs to be clear she has the appropriate level of training to serve, and know who she is serving, as well as understand any restrictions she may have on who, where or how she may serve One other than her Master.

The kajira is always advised to make her serve as pleasing to the Master as she knows how. Her use of language in her descriptions of herself and her actions will make her serve the best it can be.

In time the girl will learn how to adapt her serve to the particular likes and dislikes of the Masters. Each Master will have His own unique preferences.  EACH serve should be free form.. NEVER copy/paste a serve.  Serves that are copy/pasted detract from the slave, and disrespect the Master.

Although the description of the appropriate vessel, and the conveyance of her knowledge regarding proper preparation of the menu item are important, her focus is the Master she is serving. Likely, He is more interested in hearing how she takes pleasure in her service of Him.

You will need to learn the details of the drinks and foods.

The key to learning in Online Gor is the practice of the skills.

One important note: NEVER FOR ANY REASON, STOP SERVING OR DO ANYTHING WHILE IN SERVE

eg: greeting, talking to others, paying attention to anything BUT the serve.

1.  Acknowledge

— Let the Master/Mistress know you are aware of their order. Thank them for the honor of serving Him. Express your desire to serve Him. Also, if paga or kalana is wanted, you may ask how He likes it: cold or warm and ask how He wishes His food prepared.

a.) chilled or not ?
b.) 1st slave or 2nd slave?

— Acknowledging the FP demonstrates not only your respect for them, but also indicats that you understood what the person asked for.

*eg.. this girl thanks you for allowing her to serve You paga Master.

2.  Go To the Servery

— Backup 3 paces, gracefully head to servery. The manner in which you do so should be enticing, be discriptive. Swing your hips a bit, toss your hair and be sensuous. Adding particulars about one's body movement and room bring your serve alive.

Many of the taverns are setup a bit different, so it would help to know the layout of the place you are serving.

For example:
a.) Weaving your way through the furs carefully to the servery...
b.) Padding quietly over the cool tiles of the Inn...
c.) Walking through the sands to the serving tent...

Also, this first pose will set the tone of the serve as will as get the attention of those in the room.

3.  The serving vessel

— Select the appropriate receptacle for drink or food. (i.e.) In Gor, there are bowls for paga, sa-tarna paga, sul paga, goblets for ka-la-na, sometimes paga (there are many vessels that were in the books used for paga), ale, ka-lda, Ta-wine, Turian wine, cups/mugs for blackwine and bazi tea; also horns and tankards (double handed, up to five gallons), used by Warriors to share a drink of Victory ale. Smaller ones are used for ale and mead.

This is a good time to show off a bit of yourself - either as blatant or subtle as you wish. *eg. A soft gasp escapes her lips as she feels the sensitive tips of her nipples brush over one of the lower shelves.

4.  Inspecting and cleaning of the vessel

— Ensure the vessel or plate is clean and free of flaws or imperfections, a slaves life is worth nothing, the Master's is everything. The kajire must prevent any harm to Him, so check the vessel for any flaws which may bring Them harm. Check carefully the rim, and unless white silk, make it sensual and sexual. If white silk can make it sexual ONLY if your own Mistress/Master allows it. Wipe it with a clean rep cloth...describe the vessel, its beauty. Add eye-catching text to bring attention to your serve.

"Temione had now filled her paga vessel. She picked up a goblet from a rack near the vat. The shelving on the rack was of narrow wooden rods. The goblets are kept upside down on the rods. In this way, washed, they can drain and dry. This also affords them some protection from dust. I watched her carefully wipe the goblet. Woe to the slave who would dare to serve paga or wine in a dirty goblet!
VAGABONDS OF GOR pg.20"

*eg..She winks at her reflection as the motion of her hand makes her nipples play hide and seek within her yellow silks. Sharp eyes examine the bowl for any cracks or imperfections. A smile graces her red lips as she finds none.

5.  Preparing the drink or meal

— Fill the container unless it is one to be served at Master's feet or other place (i.e. the fire). If you are serving food, arrange the meal on the plate, prior to taking to the Master. Remember, some taverns do not store in botas, (although in vp Gor, many serve and wished served a full bota). Botas are normally used for travel. Most liquids are kept in bottles or casks. (Warm drinks are usually kept above the great hearth, on racks. Cold drinks are kept normally in some type of cooling area *eg..chillery, or cooling pools.)

You will need to review the food and drinks pages, so you know how items are to be served, i.e., if the Master wishes Blackwyne served first slave, bring the cup for the Blackwyne; one bowl with yellow sugar, one bowl with white sugar and the bosk cream in a container and three tiny spoons for stirring. Remember to make the serve pleasing and enticing.

This is one of the more intricate steps to a serve. Many of the drinks have their particular way of being prepared - goblet for kalana, warmed paga from a bota, milk and sweet rocks or honey for blackwine....pay attention to details!

6.  Leaving the servery, making way back to the FP.

— Return to the Master or Mistress being served. Make it as enticing as it was when you went to the servery with His/Her order. This is a time to express yourself and have the attention on you and the Master you serve.

7.  Approaching the FP

— Tower if white silk or before a FW, or Nadu if you are allowed and a Red silk slave, *beg to approach if an assassin.

8.  Presenting the food or drink

— When pouring, rest the vessel between your thighs, or place it in front or to the side if kneeling tower.

a. pressing into your belly, (Recognition and acceptance of her nature as kajira, the belly as the wellspring of her slavery. )

"Fighting Slave of Gor" p. 19

b. then to your breast, near her heart. ( Although is onlineism, some do so to show their love and devotion to their owners, or the one they are serving.. to be pleasing.
Note the correlation to the three moons of Gor, which are known to have a profound effect on female sexuality (refer: Talunas, Panther Girls)

c. Proving the drink ...(only prove the drink if the Master requests that you do so, only be done with approval of your Master. *this is usually only done when serving Assassins.) A popular misconception is that Free Goreans expect their slaves to "taste their beverages for poison" before they present the beverage to the Gorean whom they are serving. This is just plain incorrect, as the quote below indicates:

"`Why do you not drink? I asked her. `A girl does not drink before her master,' she said.
`I see that you are not totally stupid,' I said. `Thank you, Master,' she said.
Page 296, Guardsman of Gor

* It is the well known and widely practiced Gorean convention which dictates that a slave's lips may not touch the SAME SIDE of a drinking vessel which the FP's will be drinking from, or even the side which has already touched a Free Gorean's lips:

"When I had served him wine he gave me, too, to drink of the cup. This was, in its way, a great honor, and a token of his recognition as to how I stood to him.
I still, of course, did not dare to drink from the same edge of the cup as he, the Master."
Page 442, Slave Girl of Gor

d. Bring to your lips and kiss the side of the vessel,

*Kissing the side with lips - it is as if kissing the Masters lips.., further sign of her devotion, love, and needs.

‘Now,’ said he, ‘lift the goblet to your lips and kiss it lingeringly, then proffer it to me, arms extended, head down.’
"Fighting Slave of Gor" p. 19

"The girl who had gone to fetch my paga now returned and knelt before the table. She kissed the goblet, and then, her head down, between her extended arms, proffered it to me.
VAGABONDS OF GOR pg.401"

"Then, suddenly, as I was to hand it to him, I boldly, again, lifted the GOBLETS SIDE to my lips. Holding it in both hands, I kissed it again, lovingly, delicately, fully, lingeringly, my eyes closed."
Pg. 68, Slave Girl of Gor

e. Be inticing, sexual.. show that you wish to be pleasing. Bow your head as you raises your arms and offer to the Master/Mistress.

9.  Completing the serve

— Tell Master/Mistress being served what you have brought them and the pleasure it brought you to serve them. Wait for the Person to take the drink, then remain in position until dismissed.

*eg.."Master, girl brings you blackwine to warm your night and hopes that this slave has honored and pleased you her service."

If you are not dismissed, you may ask if there is anything else needed in an effort to remind the Person to release you.

Know the customs of where you serve. Never leave without being dismissed.

"May I serve you?" she asked.
Kamchak's eyes glinted. "Yes," he said. She poured wine into the crater and replaced the bottle. Kamchak had watched her hands very carefully. She had had to break the seal on the bottle to open it. The crater had been upside down when she had picked it up... Then she knelt before him in the position of the Pleasure Slave and, head down, arms extended, offered him the crater. He took it and sniffed it and then took a wary sip. Then he threw back his head and drained the crater. "Hah!" said he when finished.

Compressing a serve

Often the Master does not have the leisure to wait while the kajira works on a lengthy serve. In Online Gor, this is frequently the case, the Master has things going on, or simply does not have the time that he would like to have, to devote to a single task or to being on-line.
Therefore, the Master may command the girl serve *harta. The kajirae then needs to compresse the serve.

Compressing a serve is done by paring it down to it's essentials.

When the compressed serve is performed, there needs be only two paragraphs in a really tight serve. One showing the getting up to get the beverage and the return before the Master, the second one is the girl's litany, speaking to the Master. Done. At most, it can be strung out to three paragraphs, one going, one returning, and the last, the litany to the Master.

*Final Note

When the kajira is serving, the intent of the serve is to interact with the Master. And for the Master to interact with the kajira. The point here is: focus on the Master at all times. Interact with the Master, not with the pots and pans.

Compress the parts which are not interacting with the Master, and expand the parts which do. A good rule of thumb is that the number of paragraphs spent *away* from the Master should not exceed the number of paragraphs spent at the Master's feet, before you begin speaking to offer the serving with words.

Thus, if the kajira takes one paragraph to walk to the servery, one paragraph in the servery preparing the offering, one paragraph to return to the Master. The kajira should use a minimum of three paragraphs describing the interaction and responses and the *experience* of kneeling before the Master, before beginning the words in the denouement of the serve.

Good slaves are alive, vibrant, inventive, creative, intelligent and quick. These things are good to remember, slaves are not lazy, they do not directly steal another's serve to cut corners.

They do not use the same serve over and over, and they try very hard to have a bit of variety in their serving.
